The Institute for English Language and Literature, Faculty 3, has two vacancies:

Research assistant in English Linguistics (m/f/d)
(TV-L E 13, 65%)

The two positions are part-time (65%, roughly 38,000 EUR gross income per year) and to be filled for an initial period of 3 years as of 01 April 2025.

Your tasks:

  • Assisting in research and teaching
  • Pursuing an academic qualification in English Linguistics (doctoral degree or post-doctoral degree / Habilitation) on a topic related to the research profile of the professorship of English Linguistics
  • Independent teaching of courses (2.6 contact hours per week per semester) in the Bachelor's and / or Master’s degree programs in English

Your profile:

  • A completed academic degree in English Linguistics or comparable disciplines

It is desirable that you demonstrate:

  • Research experience or a profound interest in at least one of the following research areas: conversation analysis / interactional linguistics, diachronic pragmatics, variational pragmatics, language and law, AI in social interaction
  • Very good doctorate (postdoc) in English Linguistics or comparable disciplines
  • Teaching experience, preferably in a university context
  • Very good command of English and basic knowledge of German
  • Candidates for a postdoc position should have published in international peer-reviewed outlets and have initial experience in applying for third-party funding
  • An interest in digital methods (programming skills are an asset, but not a prerequisite)
