at the Institute for English Language and Literature. The position is open from April 2026.
The Institute for English Language and Literature seeks an engaging, research-active colleague to join our dynamic team. Our Institute primarily focuses on teacher education, with an additional program in Applied Linguistics currently offered at the B.A. level. We offer comprehensive education in English linguistics, literary studies, and cultural studies, emphasizing both theoretical foundations and practical applications in educational contexts. The successful candidate will contribute to our mission of supporting professional development for educators at all stages of their careers. The newly appointed professor should aim to investigate the application of AI technologies both in English language teaching in schools and in wider social communication. In addition, the impact of AI-supported language systems on the transformation of the English language in everyday life should be analyzed.
This professorship is situated within the University of Hildesheim’s profile areas “AI in Everyday Life” and “Education and Social Participation”, two of the three distinctive domains where researchers collaborate across disciplines to address societal challenges.
