The University of Hildesheim’s research landscape is characterized by three distinctive profile areas. Within these domains, researchers with complementary interests collaborate across disciplinary boundaries to address pressing societal challenges. These profile areas include: "Education and Social Engagement", "Aesthetic Practise" and "AI in Everyday Life". The current job openings pertain to professorships mainly situated within the "AI in Everyday Life" profile area, with the objective of contributing to its further development. The candidates are expected to contribute to and shape the emerging interdisciplinary Knowledge Lab Information Literacy and Accessibility. A particular focus is also placed on promoting young scientists within the framework of the Knowledge Lab. The research collaboration Knowledge Lab Information Literacy and Accessibility involves colleagues from linguistics, translation studies, the information science and intercultural communication. Responsibilities:

• Research into key areas of audiovisual translation and multimodal communication in an increasingly digital environment
• Participation in interdisciplinary research projects within the Knowledge Lab Information Literacy and Accessibility, as well as other research units at the University of Hildesheim and beyond
• Teaching in the degree programmes of the faculty, primarily in the Master's degree programme in Media Text and Media Translation and the Bachelor's degree programme in International Communication and Translation
• Collaboration in academic self-administration, including the continuous development of teaching formats and study curricula
• Cooperation with public and private broadcasters and other players in the translation industry

Qualifications:

• University degree in the relevant subject area
• Pedagogical and didactical proficiency confirmed by practical experience
• Exceptional qualifications for in-depth independent academic work, which is usually demonstrated by an above-average doctorate
• Additional academic achievements, which have generally been achieved in the context of a junior professorship or a habilitation, otherwise also in the context of work as a research assistant at a university or a non-university research institution or in the context of other academic work in Germany or abroad
• Research activities in at least two of the following fields: multimodality, Information Literacy, audiovisual knowledge communication and/or translation technologies
• Research in or profound experience with the latest technological developments and AI supported tools in the related research fields (see above)
• Willingness to contribute to the research profile of the University of Hildesheim, particularly in the areas of 'AI in Everyday Life' and 'Education and Social Engagement', as well as their overlapping areas (especially information literacy and social inclusion)
• Experience in acquiring third-party funding
• Multilingual perspective: Research into and profound knowledge of at least one of the institute's working languages (English, French, Spanish).
• Proficiency in the German language (at B1 level required after 3 years, C1 after 6 years of employment)

• Experience in interdisciplinary research

  - LLMs in Information Science
  - AI and Information Literacy
• Participation in interdisciplinary research projects within the Knowledge Lab Information Literacy and Accessibility, as well as other research units at the University of Hildesheim and beyond (e.g. teacher education)
• Teaching in the degree programmes of the faculty, primarily in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes International Information Management 
• Collaboration in academic self-administration, including the continuous development of teaching formats and study curricula

Qualifications:

• University degree (information science or closely related study programmes)
• Pedagogical and didactical proficiency confirmed by practical experience
• Exceptional qualifications for in-depth independent academic work, which is usually demonstrated by an above-average doctorate (information science or a closely related field)
• Additional academic achievements (in Information Science or a closely related field), which have generally been achieved in the context of a junior professorship or a habilitation, otherwise also in the context of work as a research assistant at a university or a non-university research institution or in the context of other academic work in Germany or abroad
• One of the two key academic qualifications (either the doctoral degree or the habilitation) must have been obtained in the field of Information Science.
• Research activities in two or more relevant fields in Information Science (see above)
• The candidate is expected to represent both constructive (design- and system-oriented) and analytical, user-centered approaches to Information Science, and to contribute to the theoretical and methodological advancement of the discipline from these perspectives
• Willingness to contribute to the research profile of the University of Hildesheim, particularly in the areas of 'AI in Everyday Life' and 'Education and Social Engagement', as well as their overlapping areas (especially information literacy and social inclusion)
• Experience in acquiring third-party funding
• Proficiency in the German language (at B1 level required after 3 years, C1 after 6 years of employment)
